Margaret Bauer, Ph.D., chairwoman of Southern Literature at ECU, will lecture at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Schechter Auditorium of the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library.
Sponsored by Neuse Regional Library System and the Kinston-Lenoir County Friends of the Library, Bauer will present “Reading and Rereading William Faulkner.” She aims to help new and seasoned Faulkner readers better understand this classic author of “The Sound and the Fury,” “Absalom, Absalom!” and “A Rose for Emily.”
Bauer is the 2004 Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences recipient of the East Carolina University Scholar-Teacher Award, was named one of the 10 ECU Women of Distinction in 2006 and received the Five-Year Achievement Award for Excellence in Research/Creative Activity in 2008. She has authored several monographs and is also working on a critical edition of Paul Green’s play, “The House of Connelly.”
