Thieves hit locations in Kinston, Grifton and La Grange stealing power tools in what initially appears as unrelated events during the last part of July.
In the 4800 block of Brother’s Road in La Grange, a man reported July 22 that an acquaintance stole a number of tools from a building on the property.
Taken were a table saw valued at $400, a $350 chain saw, a $350 grass trimmer, a $140 skill saw and a $110 hand blower.
Sometime over the weekend, a person entered a building in the 5400 block of Sharon Church Road in Kinston and stole a number of items.
“Basically, it looks like the victim reported that he left between (10 a.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday), and that someone entered his outdoor garage and stole equipment on the inside,” Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Ryan Dawson said. “There was no forcible entry to the building — it was unsecured.”
Among the items taken were a $1,000 window unit air conditioner, a $109 gas grass trimmer, a $100 window unit air conditioner, a $50 pair of black steel-toe boots, 100 feet of water hose valued at $40 and a $39 electric grass trimmer.
And between 8:46 a.m. Monday and 1:17 p.m. Tuesday, someone made off with tools and two vehicles from the 5500 block of Hugo Church Road in Grifton.
Items believed stolen are $1,200 in farm and garden vehicles and implements, a $950 1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer, a $600 1988 Nissan, $500 of stainless steel pots and pans, an $80 wireless router and credit and debit cards.
The cases remain under investigation.
